Introduction

It was unusual to have a brand new volunteer like myself and a non student like Terry given the task of producing an issue of the paper. The Lance's editor-in-chief for the following year, Larry Deck, was given a co-editorship to keep an eye on us. Larry, an expert in religious philosophy and early Christian history, made sure our theological ducks were in a row. I have no idea who Vince Rice is. In the credits I thanked my Aunt Janis and Uncle Jim. They're brilliant people and their humor helped shape mine a lot. I thanked my Grandmother because she was always the stern Catholic in the family. Long before the "what would Jesus do?" movement, Terry and I, in the capacity as religious satirists, would always ask ourselves "what would our grandmothers do?" Likewise, Terry thanked his own grandmother. We thanked Laura Gould because Terry and I were in love with her. She dressed well. She was smart. She was beautiful. She was taken. Oh well.

P.S. Lorne Beaton is without equal.

Where are they now?

Where are they now?

"And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies."

-- Revelation 18:2-3

Karl Mamer

After six years in university, Karl noticed his student loans were fast approaching a figure that would make even an Argentinean finance minister wince. He matriculated and joined the brain drain to Toronto in 1991. In Toronto, he was a columnist for the Toronto Sun for six years. Karl lived in Seattle for four years. He worked for a dot.com. Stop laughing at him. He thought it was a good idea at the time. He is now in Seoul, Korea taking a bit of sabbatical from life and teaching small children the Canadian way. He mostly teaches them to say "Gainsay who dare!" and "Aye, ready, aye". Yeah, they totally pay him for that. Read other stuff he's done. Or read his three act play, The Man Two Dialogs. Again, email Karl if you want to give him a high paying job.

Terry Brown

That's Terry "Maximus" Brown. After a stint as The Lance's Editor-in-Chief, Terry moved to Toronto and took a job as a proof reader for an advertising firm. He is satisfied being not homeless. Terry and Karl wrote for the Washington Post Writers Group's PC & Pixel daily cartoon strip. Terry has no web page and probably never will.

Kevin Johnson

That's Kevin Johnson or more informally know as KJ. KJ got married to the very capable Martina and became a printer. He's recently become a parent. He's the only known former Lance editor to have reproduced.
