Our panel consists of seasoned funny people who have used humour for fun, profit, and to maintain their sanity.

Alanis Walker

Alanis Walker is a human woman who began her writing career as a contributor and performer on the weekly comedy radio show White Label Humour. The show aired on the University of Windsor's CJAM campus/community radio station back when cell phones were bigger than a breadbox. Armed with a degree in Anthropology (!?) from the University of Windsor, she began a decades-long journey working in advertising and marketing. She shilled for such products as board games, regional aircraft, pharmaceuticals (not the fun kind), and international banking. A rabid feminist, Alanis has experience writing comedy articles, writing and producing humorous videos and parody songs, and has upwards of 150 followers on Threads. She now divides her time working for The Man, streaming party games on Twitch and just trying to keep it together for five damn minutes, you know?

Glen Howie

Glen Howie is a footbag enthusiast, goat aficionado, Dungeon Master, shower orator, poet, and cultural observer. Glen owned and wrote for the pioneering Canadian humour website Bacon Magazine in the early days of the Internet. In a previous life he was a sports journalist. Glen is a one-time novelist, a screenwriter, and a continuous satirist. His literary output is presently devoted to pithy responses to Facebook posts. Glen attempts to balance absurdity and criticism with his general disdain for those in all positions of power. His accolades include the prestigious Bacon Magazine Award for Humour, a far more coveted Little Caesar's Employee of the Month plaque, and his wife's tolerance for his ramblings and insights. Once a humorist, Glen has given it all up to focus solely on seriousness

Terry Brown

Terry Brown is the former editor-in-chief of the University of Windsor's the Lance student newspaper (1991-1992). Along with Karl Mamer and Alanis Walker, he cohosted the weekly comedy radio show White Label Humour. The show aired on the University of Windsor's CJAM campus/community radio station between 1987 and 1990. He was a gag writer for Tak Bui's PC & Pixel daily cartoon strip. Brown spent many years as a proofreader and Little League third base coach. He retreated from the painful existence of holding down a job and settled into a comfortable life as a homemaker and demiurge.

Karl Mamer

Karl Mamer [MAY-mer] was the first person in Canada to write a regular column about the Internet for a major daily newspaper, authoring the "Cyberspace" column for the Toronto Sun from 1995 to 2000. Mamer's journey began in the trenches of student journalism, co-writing with Terry Brown a satirical column for their high school paper. After graduation he studied Psychology at the University of Windsor. There, along with Terry Brown and Alanis Walker, he cohosted the weekly comedy radio show White Label Humour. He was an arts editor for the Lance. Those formative years in student media paved the way for a "brilliant" career in technical writing and a series of high-profile side quests. Beyond his work with the Sun, Mamer created the Toronto Star's Eye magazine "Cool Site of the Day Award" (sponsored by Microsoft Canada) and has served as a gag writer for Canadian cartoonist Tak Bui and the world-renowned magic duo Penn & Teller. He currently lives in a sub-suburb of Toronto with his super talented wife and his even more talented daughter. Both his wife and daughter have become diehard members of BTS ARMY. He deeply misses them when they deploy to concerts.
