The HiveMind group is a small but growing consulting group of experienced media, PR, and technical writing professionals with an established pedigree of being "first adopters" of online media.

Karl Mamer

The HiveMind Group is led by Karl Mamer. Mamer was the first journalist in Canada to write a regular column about the Internet for a major Canadian daily newspaper. His "Cyberspace" column ran in the Toronto Sun from 1995 until 2000.

Mamer has hosted and produced two successful podcasts as well as hosted and produced his own comedy radio show for three years on Windsor's CJAM. He wrote and voiced a weekly "Canada Explained" commentary for "Far Too Canadian", a New York radio show about Canadian music and culture.

Mamer has authored four non-fiction books about the Internet (Hot List & Cool Sites, Finding the News on Usenet, The Truth is in Here, Fun & Games on the Internet). He's also written for the CBC, Toronto's Eye Magazine, and the Washington Post Syndicate. Mamer researched and wrote the Eye Magazine/Microsoft Canada "Cool Site of the Day" feature for Eye magazine. For Eye, Mamer acted as its Internet "News Master".

Mamer has over 12 years experience as a technical writer and 4 years of experience as a teacher.

Joyce Shek

Shek has 10 years of experience in Public Relations and Marketing Communications in both Hong Kong and Toronto. She had broad experience developing successful marketing and communications plans and planning press conferences, product launches and charity galas for international corporations such as Sony.

Shek was a Senior Account Executive with the Hong Kong branch of Octagon, a multi-national PR & Marketing agency specializing in marketing and PR consultation. In Toronto, Shek has specialized in Chinese ethnic marketing for clients such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO), Yip's Montessori School and the Toronto KiteFest.
